Construction Time and AttendanceAs a cost type, labor is the single largest expenditure for most construction companies. It stands to reason, therefore, that the payroll process should be one of the areas with the most potential for savings. Research has shown that manual payroll collection and labor costing suffers not only from tedium and innocent human error, but from significant fraud. Resource Commander allows you to take control of time and attendance with a unique set of capabilities. Specifications for Resource Commander components and 3rd party integrations are available for download in PDF format, and contain both a functional overview and system requirements.Time EntryResource Commander allows costed labor time to be entered for resources, essentially creating a digital timesheet. The information entered includes the time spent, details such as job and cost code and any applicable notes. Employees can be allowed to enter their own time or a manager can enter time for Resource Groups. Managers can organize their own Resource Groups or they can be generated automatically based upon job or departmental hierarchies. This type of entry can be performed in an online or offline environment. After time is entered, permission levels determine which users can approve or upload to integrated systems. Time can be entered in Resource Commander from two different perspectives, depending on the user's needs. All time entered can be immediately seen within either view. Entering Time from a Cost ViewWhen the cost view is used, Resource Commander allows the user to select a specific job cost distribution and then displays all entries charged to the distribution, total costs and its amount over or under budget. Time can be entered for any available employees, and as entries are added, they are reflected in the totals. This method is commonly used by self perform contractors, allowing a superintendent or project manager to easily monitor job costs and budget status in real time. Entering Time from a Resource ViewWhen the resource view is used, timesheets are created for a resource or a group of resources. Time is then entered for each unique distribution in employee's timesheet. Within the current period, the view displays totals by day, by employee and by distribution. A wizard is also provided allowing entries to be created for multiple employees across multiple days with only a few clicks. Employees can be easily organized into groups, allowing a foreman or superintendent to view one crew at a time. Tracking AttendanceEmployee attendance can be tracked using an optional TimeClock application, or with an integrated ethernet time clock. Attendance records are comprised of in and out timestamps, which are used to calculate total time. This time can then be used in whole or in part to generate job cost distributions. All attendance records are considered historical data within the system, and all edits are written to an audit log.
